In this 2-hour machine sewing class, you will learn how to create a basic lined zipper pouch using secondhand clothes and materials. Students have the option to bring any 100% cotton secondhand clothes and/or scrap fabric to use, otherwise, all materials are provided.
This is a great class for new sewists who can use their machine but have yet to make a project. Students must have experience threading a sewing machine, loading & winding a bobbin, sewing a straight stitch and be aged 12+ to take this class. If you are looking for a class for someone younger than 12, please see our 1:1 lessons.
We have sewing machines that you can borrow if you don’t currently have one. Please note that you’d like to use a studio machine when prompted for the make/model of your machine during sign-up. If you have your own machine, please bring that to class along with your power cord/pedal, manual (if you have it) and an empty bobbin or two.
There is typically street parking within a block or two and a small shared parking lot located at the very corner of Hull St. and Brander St. with a few spaces. Please do not park in the larger lot behind the building as it requires a permit and you could be towed.
This class needs at least 2 people to run so sign up with a friend or share on social media to help spread the word. If the class doesn’t reach its minimum capacity, we will notify you 2 days in advance and issue a refund for your payment. Invite your friends through our Facebook event!
