Alterations and Mending

$245.00

In this all-day machine sewing class with a lunch break from 1-2pm taught by Amanda Campbell, you will learn basic common alterations and mending skills in test demonstrations, followed by the opportunity to work on your own clothes that need altering as well with guided help.

This class is great for anyone who wants to learn practical sewing skills like hemming, simple fit adjustments, simple hand sewing, and clothing repairs to give longevity to their clothes and is aged 12+. If you are looking for a class for someone younger than 12, please see our 1:1 lessons.

Students must have experience threading a sewing machine, loading & winding a bobbin and sewing a straight stitch to take this class.

Please bring the items you want to alter as well as the following items with you to class if you have them. If not, they will be provided for you: Tailors chalk or disappearing ink fabric markers, scrap fabric for repairs, seam ripper, sewing gauge.

We have portable sewing machines that you can borrow if you don’t currently have one. Please note that you’d like to use a studio machine when prompted for the make/model of your machine during sign-up. If you have your own machine, please bring that to class along with your power cord/pedal, manual (if you have it) and an empty bobbin or two.

Our studio is located at 401 N 23rd St. in the Church Hill neighborhood of Richmond, VA. There is typically ample street parking within a block or two.

This class needs at least 2 people to run so sign up with a friend or share on social media to help spread the word. If the class doesn’t reach its minimum capacity, we will notify you 2 days in advance and issue a refund for your payment. Invite your friends through our Facebook event!
