Teaching people to sew is our favorite thing. Once someone gains a skill, the world around them is transformed. Sewing empowers us to care for the material items we love while redirecting clothing waste from landfills. When we reap what we sew, this is a win-win stitch-uation!

See a class you’d like to take, but it’s sold out or on a date that doesn’t work for you? Join the Class Interest List to be notified as soon as a future class date is chosen.

Class FAQs

  • We know life happens! If you can’t make it to class, please email us directly at hello@topstitchmending.com

    • 7+ days out - If you can’t make it to class, let us know whether you’d like credit for a future class (for you to reschedule) or a full refund.

    • 6-3 days out - Let us know whether you’d like 50% credit towards a future class, for you to reschedule (this can also be applied to mending) or a 50% refund. A third option is to let us know you’ll be sending a friend to class in your place.

    • 48 hours out - Since we can’t offer refunds or class credits within 48 hours of the class or class series start date, if you can’t make it due to illness or emergency, we recommend gifting your spot in class to a friend or family member.

    We do our best to accommodate for illness and emergencies, but without sufficient notice it isn’t always possible, as the cancellation policy allows us time to inform other students of short notice availability and helps utilize our dedicated teaching hours to best serve everyone.

    If Top Stitch Mending cancels for any reason, we'll work with you to reschedule!

  • You can reschedule your lesson up to 7 days before the day you originally booked.

    Press the Reschedule button at the bottom of your registration confirmation email, then follow the prompts. If you need to reschedule within 1-6 days of your lesson please contact us directly at TopStitchMending@gmail.com. We ask for a minimum of 24 hours notice to reschedule your lesson. Your original payment will go towards the next date you choose.

    How to cancel your lesson:

    Press the Cancel button at the bottom of your registration confirmation email, then follow the prompts. Cancellations made 7 or more days in advance of the lesson date will receive a 100% refund.

    • Cancellations made within 3 - 6 days of the lesson will receive a 75% refund.

    • Cancellations made within 48 hours of the lesson will receive a 50% refund.

    • Cancellations made within 24 hours of the lesson will not receive a refund.

    If Top Stitch Mending cancels for any reason, you’ll always get a full refund!

    The cancellation policy allows us time to inform other students of short notice availability and helps utilize our dedicated teaching hours to best serve everyone.

  • I am fully vaccinated + boosted and masking is currently optional. I am more than happy to mask while teaching if that is your preference. There is plenty of room to sew-cially distance and hand sanitizer to go around. If you are feeling sick in any manner, please reach out to us and reschedule your lesson.

  • For group classes, our space welcomes up to 4 students in machine sewing classes and up to 6 in hand sewing classes. We like to keep it small so that everyone can receive individualized attention.

    For private sewing parties, please contact us directly if you have more than 6 people to see if we can accommodate your needs.

  • Yes, you can add a friend in the scheduling process! Have more than 1 friend who would like to join? Please email us at topstitchmending@gmail.com so we can set up a custom group class for you.
